Red Dot is a speculative performance piece exploring anxieties about data collection and its potential roles in decision-making. Using a mobile phone as a performative interface, the piece uses a variety of custom graphics processes to combine video compression aesthetics with augmented reality face filters to depict a dialogue between physical and virtual selves. The latter half of the piece temporarily turns the phone into an instrument of audiovisual performance, giving a mobile take on the movement language of Gordon Monahan's classic piece Speaker Swinging.
face filter software, Android app, and text created by myself during the development of the piece.
