disco ball projection feedback
2012
The Void series of video works generate evolving audiovisual behaviors through the manipulation of audiovisual feedback loops. While previous pieces in the series use entirely digital methods of cross-modal transduction and representation, Disco_Void externalizes the visual transductions by using a video feedback loop between screen, disco ball, and camera. The disco ball refracts light patterns generated from visualizations of granulated disco songs. These refractions are picked up by the camera, with the resulting matrix data processed and used to trigger the disco samples, beginning the feedback process anew.
